dots pricing and availability: what each plan includes
What dots costs, which plans include it, what the usage quota covers, and why conversations with your dot do not use up your ChatGPT limits.
Your first dot is included with Pro and Business Premium at no extra cost, and works 24 hours a day. The plan also carries a usage quota for deeper work, with expanded limits during the first month after launch. More dots and more capacity per dot are announced as future capability, not as something you can buy today.
What the plan includes
| Item | What OpenAI says |
|---|---|
| First dot | Included with Pro and Business Premium, no extra cost |
| Availability | 24/7, every day |
| Conversation and thinking | General use included |
| Deeper work | Plan usage quota |
| First month | Expanded limits after launch |
| Additional dots | Announced for the future, not available now |
| More capacity per dot | Announced for the future (speed or monthly volume) |
The three Pro tiers
ChatGPT Pro is not a single plan: it has three monthly tiers, and it is worth knowing what each includes before choosing.
| Tier | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Pro 100 | $100/month | The entry point with dots included |
| Pro 200 | $200/month | Reopened to new subscriptions with a lower allowance |
| Pro 500 | $500/month | Includes Astra Ultrafast |
Two important things: the first dot is included with any of the three, and Pro 200 has an announced allowance cut effective 29 October 2026. If you are evaluating that tier, check its current state before subscribing.
The geographic exclusion: Pro only
This is the availability fact most often misread.
The Pro plan excludes the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It is not a product exclusion: it is a plan exclusion.
| Plan | Coverage |
|---|---|
| Pro | Excludes the EEA, Switzerland and the UK |
| Business Premium | Every region where ChatGPT is available |
| Enterprise / Edu / Healthcare | Beta, off by default until an admin enables it |
If you are in Europe and want dots, the route is Business Premium. For market-by-market detail, see the availability table by country.
Two conditions also go unnoticed: dots is not available to users under 18, and the rollout is gradual, with access potentially taking several days to reach your account.
The distinction that matters most: what uses your quota
There are two separate budgets, and mixing them up is the usual source of surprise.
- Conversations with your dot: do not count toward your ChatGPT usage limits.
- Tasks the dot starts or manages in Codex or ChatGPT Work: do count toward your usage limits, like any other task.
Put differently: talking to your dot is free in limit terms, but asking it to execute work inside OpenAI’s work products draws on the normal budget.
Who can use it
At launch, dots rolls out gradually to:
- Pro — individual users.
- Business Premium — company workspaces.
- Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare — beta once a workspace admin enables it.
- Specialized dots — limited enterprise preview, with their own identity and responsibilities.
Availability depends on enabled markets, not the interface language. That is the point that causes most confusion: ChatGPT being available in your country does not mean dots is.
How to estimate your real cost
Because the capacity model is still evolving, the sensible way to estimate cost is by usage:
- Start with the included dot and measure how much deeper work your case actually needs.
- Keep conversational work (no limit impact) mentally separate from work delegated to Codex or ChatGPT Work (limit impact).
- If you run short, the lever OpenAI promised is extra capacity, not a different plan.
OpenAI plan prices change often and we do not mirror them here. Before deciding, compare the current Pro or Business Premium price on OpenAI’s site against the quota your real usage needs.

Frequently asked questions about dots
Does dots cost extra?
Not at launch: your first dot is included in Pro and Business Premium plans at no additional cost. The plan also includes a usage quota for deeper work.
Do conversations with my dot use up my ChatGPT limits?
No. OpenAI says conversations with your dot do not count toward your ChatGPT usage limits. Tasks you have the dot start or manage in Codex or ChatGPT Work do count.
Which plans get access?
Pro and Business Premium in enabled markets. Enterprise, including Edu and Healthcare, can try the beta once a workspace admin enables it.
What happens when the quota runs out?
OpenAI describes a usage quota for deeper work plus expanded limits during the first month. Exact consumption and top-up details are not published in a stable form, so verify in the app.
Can I buy additional dots?
Not yet. OpenAI says more dots and more productivity per dot are coming, either by increasing speed or the total amount of work a dot can take on per month.
